About NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is one of the largest uniformed youth organizations in India, functioning under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. NCC aims to develop qualities of leadership, discipline, character, patriotism, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, and ideals of selfless service among students.

The NCC provides opportunities to students for all-round personality development through institutional training, camps, community service, social awareness programmes, adventure activities, and national integration initiatives. It also motivates youth towards a career in the Armed Forces and responsible citizenship.

At C. M. Science College, Darbhanga, the NCC unit functions under the guidance of Group Headquarters Muzaffarpur and 8 Bihar Battalion NCC, Darbhanga. The unit actively participates in institutional training, parade activities, social service campaigns, environmental awareness programmes, disaster management activities, blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and national celebrations.

The NCC wing of the college plays an important role in developing confidence, teamwork, leadership skills, and social responsibility among students while promoting the spirit of “Unity and Discipline,” the motto of NCC.

Objectives of NCC:

  • To create awareness about national security and social responsibility.
  • To provide basic military training and leadership skills to students.
  • To prepare motivated youth for defence services and nation-building activities.
  • To promote adventure, environmental awareness, and community service.

Enrolment and Eligibility:

  • Enrolment is open to eligible students of Intermediate and Undergraduate classes of the college.
  • Admission is conducted as per NCC norms and government reservation policies.
  • Selection may include physical fitness tests, written tests, medical examination, and interview as prescribed by 8 Bihar Battalion NCC, Darbhanga.
  • Cadets are trained for NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate Examinations during the training period.

NCC Song: An Official Song of the NCC titled "Kadam Mila Ke Chal" was adopted in 1963. This was, however, changed to the current NCC Song titled "Ham Sabh Bhartiya Hain" in Oct 1982. "Ham Sabh Bhartiya Hain" - NCC song is written by Sudarshan Fakir.
